The Comino Experience

A table that feels connected to Gozo.

Ferdie’s combines a contemporary dining room with the easygoing atmosphere of a restaurant and cocktail bar. What stood out during our visit was the way the experience moves between food, conversation and the surrounding Gozitan setting rather than treating any one element in isolation.

The menu sits comfortably in Mediterranean territory, with seafood, grills and other familiar favourites presented for a relaxed lunch or evening out. Our visit gave us a chance to experience both the dining room and a selection of dishes at the table.

Crispy calamari served at Ferdie's in GozoReal visit · AI-enhanced
From our table

Crisp, golden and made for sharing.

The calamari brought exactly the kind of casual Mediterranean energy that works here: a generous plate, crisp texture, fresh greens, lemon and a creamy accompaniment. It is the sort of dish that naturally belongs at the centre of a table.

What we experienced

The Ferdie’s table, in detail.

We did not retain the exact menu names from the visit, so rather than inventing them, we are presenting the dishes exactly as we experienced and photographed them. The emphasis here is on the food itself: textures, presentation and the overall Mediterranean character of the table.

Burrata, greens & roasted tomatoes

A striking plate centred on a creamy burrata-style cheese, set against peppery greens, roasted cherry tomatoes, walnuts and a glossy balsamic finish. Visually, this was one of the most elegant plates of the meal.

At the beginning

Bread & table accompaniments

The meal opened with bread and two intensely coloured accompaniments, one deeper red and one more rustic and textured. Small details like these gave the table a relaxed, hospitable rhythm from the start.

Fresh mint & citrus

Mint, citrus and ice in a textured glass brought the cocktail-bar side of Ferdie’s into the meal. Crisp, fresh and made for the setting.

The setting

Dining with Gozo in the frame

Ferdie’s strongest visual asset is not only on the plate. The dining room opens toward a broad Gozitan landscape, giving the meal a clear sense of place and making the setting part of the experience rather than merely a backdrop.

“Ferdie’s works best as a complete evening: the room, the table, the drinks and the distinctly Gozitan sense of place.”
